Rules & Regulations
Gear up for a nostalgic adventure with The National Bogey Jar Scramble, largely inspired by the iconic Buick Scramble.
This exhilarating format offers a fun and competitive environment for golfers of all ages and playing levels, and is designed to promote teamwork and camaraderie through an inclusive and enjoyable competition.
Before you hit the links, be sure to dive into the official series rules and regulations below:

All players must possess a USGA GHIN Handicap.
Each player must have posted a minimum of 6 rounds in the past 12 months
Only one (1) team member can have a handicap lower than 5.7
The teams total handicap must be at least 41
The maximum index for one team member is 19

All players must possess a USGA handicap.
Each player must have posted a minimum of 6 rounds in the past 12 months. All handicaps will be verified before the Championship tournament.
Players are assigned a grade based on their verified handicap:
“A” player 5.7 and below
“B” player 5.8 to 11.0
“C” player 11.1 to 16.3
“D” player 16.4 to 19*
*The maximum index for one team member is 19. If a player’s handicap is higher than 19, that player must be entered as a 19 handicap.
Please note that any team that has an “A” player must also have a “D” player.
Example player combinations include:
(2x) “B” players and (2x) “C” players
(3x) “B” players and (1x) “D” player
A combination of (3x) “B” players and (1x) “C” player, with the team’s aggregate handicap equaling 41 or higher.
Additional Rules:
Only one (1) team member can have a handicap of 5.7 or lower
The team's total handicap must be at least 41
A player cannot drop down more than one (1) letter on his handicap during a six month period

Teeing off: All team members tee off on each hole.
Selecting the best shot: The team chooses the best shot and marks it with a ball marker or tee.
Playing from the marked spot: Other team members pick up their balls and place them within one club length of the marked spot.
General play: Players can improve their lie by one club length through the green except for penalty areas.
Playing in penalty areas or bunkers: If the team’s best shot lands in a penalty area or bunker, they may play from that location. They will still be entitled one club length but must keep the ball in the penalty area or bunker. When playing from a bunker, a level lie can be created.
Putting: Players must play within 6 inches of where the ball comes to rest.
Continuing play: Play continues in this manner until the hole is complete.
Two Tee Shots: Each team member’s tee shot must be used at least (2) two times during the round.

1 team per sectional qualifying site will advance to the National Finals to be played November 20th - 23rd, 2025 in Orlando. The advancing team will be determined by the low gross score.
Should there be a tie for low team, a hole by hole playoff will determine the advancing team.

PGA Professionals and Men Amateurs under the age of 50 will play from a yardage between 6,600 and 6,800 yards
Men Senior Amateurs who are 50 years of age or older will play from a yardage between 6,200 and 6.400 yards
Female Professionals and Female Amateurs will play from a yardage between 5,600 and 5,800 yards
